Dallas Police yesterday arrested Daniel Willyam for the murder of Samantha Michelle Nance, an Art Institute of Dallas student found dead in her Lake Highlands apartment bedroom Sept. 11.

Willyam, 26, is the roommate of Nance’s boyfriend, Nathan Shuck, 20. Police homicide detectives had identified both men as possible suspects in the stabbing death of Nance.

According to police reports, Willyam’s jealousy of the relationship between Nance and Shuck might have caused him to allegedly stab Nance multiple times on Sept. 10. Her roommate found Nance’s body the next day.

Detectives said in Willyam’s arrest affidavit that Willyam had a “crush” on Shuck and grew increasingly angry at Nance because she was spending too much time with her boyfriend.

Police searched Willyam’s apartment in September and confiscated several items with blood on them, including a plastic bag. They sent the items to the lab for a DNA analysis and comparison, which took about two weeks.

The analysis matched the blood on the plastic bag to Nance.
